@justagirlwithcancer: I’ve been thinking more and more about the biopsy. I had on my 3 cm tumor when I was diagnosed with invasive duct carcinoma. The biopsy showed the cancer was spreading at 24% and by the time I got to my double mastectomy a couple months later, the cancer was spreading at a 60% rate and had mutated. I can’t help but to think that biopsy exacerbated the spread rate of my cancer. There are other ways for them to biopsy now and if I had to do it again, I would ask for a different method besides poking the tumor. #agoodcancerjourney #cancerdallas #biopsy #breastcancer

My functional nurse practitioner has been discussing this, I have not experienced cancer, but we are always talking about options on our health journey. He has other patients come in and talk to us about their journey. In certain decisions they make. I agree with you. I would much rather than remove the entire cell, and cut it on the table versus the biopsy. Or do an MRI for initial prognosis and then removal of the cyst completely. Sending you good vibes and prayers for healing.💛

how do you know what your cancer spread rate is before and after and where did you get this info?

I agree. Same thing happened to me. They told me grain of rice at time of biopsy, engulfed my entire left breast by time of DMX which was 34 days later.

Was it a ultrasound guided biopsy or an MRI guided biopsy?

is it a grade 3 tumor? Mine felt different after biopsy but only due to inflammation, which is normal coz the tissues have just been pierced. I don't think biopsy spreads the cancer. As you said, yours mutated

My daddy, who would be 97 years old if he was still living, thought that if you had surgery for the removal of a malignancy, it would spread when oxygen got to it. He really believed that. I know it's not the same thing as a biopsy, but it just reminded me of how he felt.

Thank you for sharing this information. They wanted to do a biopsy on a lump in my breast before and I almost did it but then Covid happened so I canceled it and I’m so glad I didn’t because it wasn’t cancer at all. There wasn’t even a lump.🥺 I don’t normally follow new people that are fighting cancer because it’s just too difficult to watch but your situation is different so definitely will be following you and love your attitude😅

Me too. The spread went way more after my biopsy

I believe that poking the ( bear) does cause spread also.

Same with my husband. Pancreatic. They told us it was a risk but needed to know to target chemo. What he likely had for years undetected rapidly spread after biopsy

So glad to hear this! Also, yes, I believe there is something about when they do biopsies it makes it spread! Saying prayers for you and big hugs!

I've been curious about this as well. They did 14 punch biopsies in my breast and armpit and things changed drastically afterward. I appreciate knowledge they gained, but it was horrific.
