That she was reportedly believed to be brain-dead. That she woke up. That she cannot swallow. That her hands are so swollen she cannot use them. And maybe what happened during that execution was horrific. But here is the part I cannot get past: WE DO NOT KNOW THE EXTENT OF CHRISTA PIKE’S SUFFERING. Was she stabbed hundreds of times? Was she sexually assaulted? Was her skull smashed in? Was she tortured while knowing she was going to die? Because Colleen Slemmer was. So when I hear: “It’s a miracle Christa Pike is alive…” all I can think is: HER VICTIM NEVER GOT A MIRACLE. Colleen did not wake back up. Colleen did not get doctors surrounding her. Colleen did not get emergency hearings. Colleen did not get attorneys standing in court describing every injury while the world watched in horror. She got murdered. Brutally. And now somehow the conversation is becoming centered almost entirely around the suffering of the woman convicted of killing her. No. Investigate what happened during the execution.
