I’m from a country where hockey isn't a popular sport. And even though I knew of it (thanks big Time Rush, haha), I never really got into it because I’ve never been a sports person; I don't like soccer and futbol I find it incredibly boring. And yeah, I watched HR (didn't like it), but after watching it, my TikTok algorithm got flooded with real hockey teams. I saw a video of the Sharks' entrance with their giant shark head and thought, "Oh, that looks super cool—who are they?" Now I’m a fan of the Sharks, Boston, and Anaheim; I watch every game and even bought tickets to travel from my country to San Jose (SJS) to see a game in person. Was it because of Mack and Will? No. Was it because of HR? Nope. I’m literally here because I fell in love with the sport; the Sharks won me over because they were so fun, and I loved the dynamic between them. The TikTok edits and—honestly—William Eklund (a sensitive topic at this point). I hate that narrative because, even though I didn't get here directly because of HR, hockey showed up on my FYP thanks to watching it (thanks to the algorithm)—but no, I stayed because I genuinely fell in love with the sport. I’m sick of people thinking I’m only a fan and INVESTING my money just to "sexualize" the players. Bro. Wtf. Even i like off campus, i just watched bc of hockey not watch hockey bc off campus 🫠🫠🫠🫠
