When I realized there was zero advantage to going above and beyond, I quiet quit. I do what I need to do and if that only takes me 2 hours, I have 6 hours to fill with whatever activity I want. Something comes in during that time I do it and go back to my holding pattern. I'm also out the door the moment the clock hits quitting time.

It’s compliance and getting paid for what you were contractually obligated to. If your hours are eight hours 9 to 5 then you should only clock in from 9 to 5. Companies don’t care if you stay over unless there is overtime that needs to be approved because they’re gonna work you regardless and take that free labor. My thought is as many times as my manager can take days off and say that they have a headache so they’re not gonna be working today but if I say that I have to push through it is mind-boggling so if you want me to do my best I need to see you doing your best and helping out around here because it takes a team to make something really happen but if only three or four people on the team are actually the team and everyone else is just chilling then there’s always gonna be built-up resentment

They’ve implemented a points policy, so if you’re 1 minute late for your shift, you get 0.5 point. If you accrue 4 points in 12 months, you could get fired.

We have metrics to meet - fine - I set timers. If I finish a task before the 20 minutes is up - that is my time. When my timer goes off I will start my next task. I am no longer over performing for the same pay as someone else who doesn’t even do half of my daily output.

I was burned out for over 5 years and never took a sick leave bc I worked from home so it was usless in my eyes. We were forced to go back to the office and I’ve been on paid sick leave for 8 months now
