Over the years I’ve converted some famous Poems and quotes into song. (More on my YouTube channel, YT@pfbadkarma66) “In Flanders Fields” was written in 1915 by Canadian doctor and soldier Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae during the First World War. He wrote it after the death of his friend Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, who was killed during the Second Battle of Ypres in Belgium. The poem describes red poppies growing among the graves of fallen soldiers, while larks continue to sing above the battlefields. It became one of the most famous poems of the war and helped establish the red poppy as a lasting symbol of remembrance. McCrae writes from the perspective of the fallen soldiers, recalling how recently they were alive, enjoying the sunrise, watching the sunset and loving those they had left behind. Through simple, moving imagery, he gives a voice to men whose lives ended far from home. The poem also asks future generations to remember their sacrifice and carry forward the cause for which they fought. Its opening words, “In Flanders fields the poppies blow,” have become inseparable from Remembrance Day and the millions of lives lost during the First World War. #remembrancedaypoppies #LestWeForget About Me Badkarma66 is a British writer who has been writing songs for over 30 years. Throughout life's challenges and personal struggles, songwriting has remained a constant source of expression, creativity and purpose. I can now use AI systems and music Editors to painstakingly bring over 30 years of work to life. Drawing on life experiences, history and imagination, I write across a wide range of genres, general and story albums and now have a newfound freedom to bring to the world what I create. My time alone allowed has allowed me to create. My, Writing has always been about one thing: the love of creating.
