I make 380k my self in a cheap area to live drive 20 year old Toyota. Shop at costco buy uniqlo and get a few custom blazers in hk and 3 international vacays with the fam in economy. Middle class really is the best zone I can savor luxuries but still have to work to live like most everyone.

We have to stop acting like a dollar is what what matters. The location matters way more than the salary. $200k a year in Alabama and you’re absolutely living on the high end.

And it means there’s food on the table we can fix emergency problems, our kids are safe, and our backs are warm. The society needs to get over the obsession with luxury and be grateful for what we have. The inflation is a crippling issue but not bc those making $200K can’t wear Gucci but bc people making $40K can’t eat.
