I almost died because my dad (after the divorce ) tried to force me to eat food I’m deathly allergic to, when I told him no cause I’m allergic he got crazy mad at me , I honestly almost caved , I’m pretty ashamed of almost being bullied into essentially killing myself , it took a lot from me but I resisted and locked myself in the bathroom to go through the panic attack that followed, alone. The f*cker still thinks it’s unfair we don’t celebrate Father’s Day to the same lvl we celebrate Mother’s Day, not caring that they don’t deserve it in the first place.

I'm watching this while I am cooking dinner, after I picked up all of the kids, and ready to start baths while wife is still working. 🤔 #goodfathersexist

My father was like that, he wasn't involved in my life until I became an adult, now he's trying to be "perfect parent", like no I needed you when I was a kid, you are so late you cannot be disappointed I'm not so involved in your life as I do with my mom who raised me on her own

This is why I'm grateful I was raised by a dad who grew up with sisters and became a doctor 🥹

Still annoyed at the time I called my dad to pick me up and the office lady kept saying oh mums coming to pick up, i corrected her multiple times and she was still shocked when my dad walked in like yes fathers can pick up and care for their sick child too

I seen that and it was so gross. I have a 1.5 year old and her dad does all doctors appointments and knows everything. I didnt have her until a month before turning 40 because I refused to have a baby until I found a man that would be 100% hands on. He knows if that stops so does our relationship.

its discussions like this when I realize my dad accidentally gave me high standards. my dad all my life (I'm 30 and he passed in 2023 when he was 63), had issues remembering things but every appointment he took me to before and after the divorce, he had a little notepad of everything medical about me. he had a notebook for me, one for my brother, one for each long term girlfriend he had and even still had the one for my mom which he gave my stepdad after my mom remarried, just so he was prepared for anything. I was never made to think that was more than bare minimum for a dad.

I saw a street interview video where a father didn't know the grade or what school the kid went to. I hope that it was scripted.

I once went to bed early and specifically asked my male partner at the time to make sure our cat was brought in from the balcony. I woke up around 3am noticing the cat was not in her usual spot on our bed to find out he had forgotten and locked her outside. It was raining, very cold, and she was soaking wet and shivering. If I hadn't woken up ("female intuition"?) and found her, she could have died. I am so glad I never had children with that man.

Both parents should know the important information... Or else he can stay away and just pay child support 😒

I know so many mothers that simply can't leave the kid with the father just because he can't take care of the kid for just 2-3 hours alone. Literally witnessed the father calling the mother, who is out with friend at an event, because the kid has woken up from the afternoon nap.

My husband and I split everything, but his capabilities fit certain things were different then mine. Also my was 7 to 4, hubby worked til 6, so yes I did doctors. Could my husband answer all the questions in this skit, yes and if it was something he needed to refresh before, we’d discuss. Like “how long has symptoms been” for a sick visit, cause we both terrible with time, that acceptable. She had a reaction once to an antibiotic, but it went away, so reminder needed cause I had time usually to be point person. Also it isn’t just that we normalize the incompetence, women automatically take on the load without sharing. We shared, but our jobs made it such that certain things fell under my watch. Btw, he did mornings and she was never late to school, he knew her friends, etc. I just had the job that made me available for the early activities. I also once yelled at my brother in law for saying “watching their 2 kids was too hard”, but my SIL was a sahm and she did it daily, she just wanted hair appointment alone. 2 hours, they are your kids, learn to take care of them.

My FIL has been emotionally absent the entirety of his children's lives. He lives with the other 2 siblings and mom, they're still together. I've seen him for less than an hour in the 8 years I've been with his only son and over for holidays. Not one single call or text from his dad in 15+ years. Not birthdays, holidays, promotions, hospitalizations...

Mental load is just another term for priorities. My mom remembered birthdays and scheduled parties. My dad figured out how to fix things. My mom was convinced I had to see an allergist. After I turned 18 and didn’t go to the allergist, my allergies went away. Parents need to make their own deal. Don’t mess up the kids. Try not to be unprepared for a task but life is messy.
