ANNOUNCEMENT: POLICE COMMENCE ISSUANCE OF NEW DRIVER’S LICENCES IN BANJUL AND KANIFING Date: 7 October 2026 The Gambia Police Force has commenced issuing driver’s licences under the new Driver’s Licence System at its Banjul and Kanifing centres today, Wednesday, 7 October 2026. Licences issued under the new system are valid for three years and cost D2,550. Applicants must bring their new National ID card. Those renewing a licence should also bring their old driver’s licence. First-time applicants must pass a driving competency test and present the resulting certificate when applying. The system will be introduced at other designated centres in phases. Issuance will begin in Brikama on Monday, 12 October; Soma and Farafenni on Monday, 19 October; and Janjanbureh and Basse on Thursday, 22 October 2026. The phased rollout will allow the authorities to monitor the system and address any operational or technical issues as services become available at more centres.
