@crmnallyobsessed: The woman suing Cornell University and seven men over an alleged gang rape at a fraternity house is now receiving death threats against herself and her family, according to her attorney. Attorney Thomas Giuffra says someone threatened to shoot Jane Doe, her mother and her father, prompting her to contact police. The threats come as scrutiny intensifies over how Cornell and law enforcement handled Jane Doe’s 2024 allegations involving a fraternity house. New York Attorney General Letitia James is now leading a state investigation into the handling of the case. Cornell has also retained former U.S. Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates to conduct an independent review of the university’s response to Jane Doe’s allegations and its broader handling of sexual misconduct claims. Giuffra has also made a new allegation: that fraternity members held meetings about the case and participated in what he calls a “conspiracy of silence.” He claims dozens of people were aware of a group chat connected to the allegations, but no one other than the person who ultimately leaked it to Jane Doe came forward. 🗣️: @kristinthorne #Cornell #JaneDoe #CrimeNews #TitleIX #ChiPhi

HOW OUT OF TOUCH CAN LABOR BE! Last week’s decision by the Labor government to ban businesses from passing on credit card fees so they have to be absorbed by businesses is the height of stupidity. First of all businesses can’t just absorb these costs, especially when times are tough. It’s absurd for government to pretend that these costs won’t be passed on. Secondly isn’t it better the card fees are separately disclosed so that people can see how much it costs to use a card instead of cash? Finally hasn’t the government got bigger fish to fry in fixing the economy than messing around with card charges? You know things like cutting government waste and regulations! If you want a party that will solve the bigger structural economic problems Australia is facing then please sign up to People First today at Peoplefirstparty.au ••••••••••••••••• “Small business owners have raged at the tax office’s decision to stop accepting credit cards due to the new surcharge ban, arguing it was a display of hypocrisy that would smash their cash flow. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) on Thursday made a shock announcement that it would not take credit cards from December 1, citing transaction fees would now need to be passed on to taxpayers. “As a government agency, the ATO has decided it would not be appropriate for the cost of credit card merchant fees to be transferred to the community,” it said. The blindside has been a red rag to a bull for business owners who have been asked to either absorb or pass on the costs of card transactions themselves after the surcharge ban from October 1.”
