the knee drop tackle penalty is understandable, fair & clear. like you mentioned already, World Rugby has laws against it. what will be difficult to manage and penalise will be the knee drop tackle because that is now going to make it very difficult to chase down & tackle a player who has broken defence and is heading for the tryline

It's one of those rules that seems invasive at first but players will adapt to and eventually be grateful for. Those hip drops can be season enders.

Has anyone asked the players’ opinion on this? The hip drop will occur naturally with momentum as a tackler swings around when making contact in almost all cases where the impact is nit directly from the front or the back. Idiotic decision.

this been illegal in Rugby League, it is a dangerous tackle for sure . i agree, thats same tackle snapped a players ankle in Rugby League recently

id agree with the knee drop if it wasnt for one thing. players are now running bent over at the hip. you cant legally tackle that unless you are on your knees. so if we are to ban that then we have to mandate that players run upright and if they bend they get penalised as well.
