Sometimes, the simplest little things can make the biggest difference. With Hurricane Isaias approaching, I wanted to share a video from a few years ago that unexpectedly reached millions of people. You might remember it. A little aluminum foil, my refrigerator door water dispenser, and a five-gallon water jug. Yep. That was it. I showed how you could use a piece of aluminum foil to help guide water from your refrigerator dispenser into a large jug. And believe it or not, in a pinch, it really can work! If you haven’t had time to get to the store to stock up on bottled water, or the shelves are already empty, this might be one simple way to help you prepare using what you already have at home. Now, let me be perfectly clear. I am NO expert. I’m just a guy who cooks things in his kitchen. I certainly never imagined that a little piece of aluminum foil would become the most watched thing I’ve ever shared! But here’s why I’m sharing it again. It’s not about going viral. It’s not about views, likes, or followers. It’s about people. Because behind every hurricane forecast are families trying to protect their homes, parents worrying about their children, neighbors looking out for one another, and people doing everything they can to prepare for the unknown. And if this simple little tip helps even ONE person feel a little more prepared, then I’m all for sharing it again. Just remember, use clean, food-safe containers and drinking water from a safe source. Follow local emergency guidance, especially if your area is under a boil-water advisory or evacuation order. To everyone preparing for the storm, please know that I’m thinking of you. I hope you stay safe, that your families are protected, and that the days ahead are kinder than the forecasts might suggest. Sometimes helping someone doesn’t require doing something extraordinary. Sometimes it just takes a little kindness, a willingness to share, and apparently…a piece of aluminum foil. Take care of yourselves. Look after your neighbors. And please, stay safe. Feed People. Love People. #hurricanepreparedness #hurricane #storm #hurricaneisaias #helpingneighbors
