@stoplookingstiff: Against a ledge, a column or a pillar, the easy move is to stand straight with your weight on both feet and your arms crossed or clasped. The body locks into one vertical line and the photo goes flat. Lean instead. Bend forward onto the ledge on your forearm with your chin in your hand, push one shoulder into the column and cross a foot behind, or put a hand back on the wall and turn away from the camera. Once your weight shifts to one side, everything else falls into place. Save this for your next photo.
