If you fold the canvas in layers and dedicate one iron to the task, you can melt blocks paraffin wax through the layers to waterproof.

The hunter old school way to waterproof a canvas tent is to pitch it tight with all the guys out and then hose it down on the outside and let it dry on a hot sunny day, then do it again. This shrinks the fabric slightly and tightens the weave.

Do you use paraffin wax for water proofing? I used it on a canvas rain tarp and it’s worked wonders plus when it’s hot enough the wax reseals itself

you can use silicone sealant or paraffin wax for water proofing. Nighthawk on YouTube has some great videos on how to do it
