you forgot to mention one way, some vending machines allow you to use their app. I use the CokeOn app to pay with my phone. It's a cool system, check it out.

One of my favorite things about Japan is when you’re going somewhere kind of remote and you think surely there can’t be a vending machine here and then BOOM! VENDING MACHINE ON DA MOUNTAIN! 😂

This is also just...how you use any vending machine anywhere....but yeah you don't really see them in America anymore. We used to be a country. We used to put everything in a vending machine!!!
