An enzime in her saliva causes the stain and will not wash off. I go through this every summer with my pug and the Missouri heat.

She’s licking it and that causes the staining

It’s her saliva that stains the fur.

I noticed that in the video you did about the new bed Bogey had. Was going to ask if Scout had a boo-boo.

The stained paw is from him looking his foot. It stained from his saliva. I had a dog who had really bad allergies on his feet and he would lick his feet all the time, and we noticed that his feet were turning a pinky red color. We asked the vet and that’s what they said.

Ok, ok so listen my first dog Susie who was a mixed terrier (white & brown) for the longest time when she was young, she would have these hotspots on both of her sides of her stomach. We absolutely had no idea what to do so we took her to the vet which is only a block away from us, we can hear the dogs barking from the vet that’s how close we are. Anyway, they took a look & said that she has these hotspots, & they gave us some special type of doggie shampoo. They said, give her a bath & when you put it on her, let it stay there for about 10 minutes & then wash it off & keep constantly doing that every so often & then it should go away. It only happened around June & July here in North Carolina. I think they had said the reason why was because she was somehow allergic to the grass but yet she had some stomach issues which made her eat grass to again help her which it normally would along anything with pumpkin it would be a laxative for her but then she had to be flush out a few times but she wasn’t like most dogs so she could tell that they was trying to help her so she didn’t mean to bite nobody. She was like a local celebrity there at the vet. I mean every time we had to take her there to the vet for anything, it was like that scene from Hello Dolly in the restaurant where everybody is like “Hello, Dolly it’s so nice to see again” that’s how they was with her because she was just the goodest girl & smile & show her teeth out. She just love people & other dogs like a service dog who goes to hospitals. She had that type of personality 😉🐶

Oh yes the hot spots... I remember them well. 🙄🥴 Poor babies.🙃🙂 a few of my animals had some.. it's horrible to see your fur babies go through that. But the medicine does help.🥰😁 I'm glad scouts cleared up and healed up.🥰👍

This stain happened to my dog’s fur too. The vet said it was from the iron that occurs naturally in their saliva.

Ask her vet about her paw. Sometimes, they'll kind of get addicted to licking one area and the more they lick it, the more proteins from their saliva builds up which attracts them back to lick it more. It's a vicious cycle. Talk to your vet about ways to get her to stop repeatedly going back to the area.

I’m always watching my dog for hot spots. You are correct. Bandages don’t work. It makes me nervous that they are so nervous that they have to lick a hole in their leg. Matches perfectly.[Heartwarming]

The staining is just from her saliva from when she licks it!
