It places a half inch long plastic tag in the garment. It is not tight enough to “hold” anything in place. It is very visible and not a stitch at all.

Y'all this isn't a stitching item like a hem stitch. Its the plastic bits that secure tags to garments in stores. It's fine for a quick fix for stuff out of sight but it is NOT something you just want to stab through a nice dress willy nilly. I used these all the time on lingerie when I was a manager and it can very much leave marks and look noticeable. Please research what you buy before you buy it.
