@briellesarchives: so i remember having a conversation about this with my german friend while we were in vietnam and she was realizing how lucky she was to have the freedom to travel across the world while some of the people living there had barely had the opportunity to explore their own country!! that also made me incredibly grateful for the privilege of travel especially because i’ve seen how differently people experience the same world depending on where they were born. i genuinely believe everyone deserves the opportunity to see the world. it’s our world to explore, learn from, and experience. and i think traveling should also make us more conscious of how we participate in the places we visit. stay in locally owned accommodations, support small businesses, learn about the people and their culture, and let your money benefit the communities welcoming you. there’s so much more to travel than seeing beautiful places. it’s also about understanding the world beyond your own circumstances and becoming more thoughtful about your place in it. ;)) #travel #thoughts #solotravel #backpacking
I even met some foreigners who really resigned from their jobs just to travel for 3-6months, and would say they would just get a new job when they go back to their countries. Like it’s that easy for them 🙁

hearing non-rich 20-somethings from western countries be able to backpack to 30 countries before 30 while not having any stable career (GOOD FOR THEM) meanwhile, professionals here with post-grads even, still have to prove worthiness for a damn TOURIST VISA at that. like, of course everything is political.

This is true. I am currently living in Canada, just one full time job and I am able to travel almost all of the Hawaiian Islands and States plus asian countries. Pero kung nasa pinas ako with my job, I won’t be able to pay/have a place on my own. Pati nga sguro sa bills hirap pa. So I am really grateful sa opportunity na dumating sa buhay ko. Direct hired to Dubai from Cebu at while nasa dubai naka hanap din through online ng direct hiring pa canada. Keep dreaming and believing in yourself!

forget about the visa, yung process pa lang na nababasa ko kapag lalabas ka ng bansa as a first time traveler was gruelling. wtf you mean you get asked those questions a lot of times? get doubted of where your money came from? I get it, dahil may mga nangyayaring transfer and so and so na mga flights before, I've heard of those incidents. but aren't illegal things like that happen bcs this country can't provide for its own people properly? yung paraan nila bago ka pa makalabas parang gusto ka na nilang itali sa Pilipinas.

esl teacher ako so I've met many foreign students who were able to travel (and study abroad) with saving up from part time jobs. imagine, part time jobs lang yon pero kaya na nilang maka ipon for international travels. whereas ako na may full time job hirap pang buhayin ang sarili? 😭

This is such a good take. For a 25 yr old like me who hasn’t traveled internationally, this is exactly what I want to point out. We all earn our own money now, but it’s just so hard to travel without thinking of the expenses behind us.

naka-meet ako ng foreigner sa bkk, barber. samantalang dito sa pinas hindi ka madadala ng pagiging barbero sa ibang bansa kahit ilang taon ka pang mag-trabaho.

I worked in BGC before, and eventhough I had a corporate job I couldn't afford to eat at the restaurants there, and EVERYDAY after work all I would see were foreigners (no hate to them) eating at those fancy restaurant while I looked at them from the outside, such an ironic feeling.

You know what? Talking with foreigners made me realize na super unfair talaga ng situation here. Imagine mas masipag pa employess here pero yung salary and benefits natin is like a “SLAVE” yes eto yung term nung kausap ko after ko masabing wala tayong 4 weeks leave and super shit salary cap 🥲

I have talked about this with my partner. He is a blue collar worker abroad. His coworkers there can live just fine, they can have a house, groceries, basically, they can support their families. Tell me why in our own country, if he work the same job, his salary wont be even enough to support me and him? We hate to be far away from each other but it’s needed. My heart breaks when he leaves but my heart breaks even more thinking that this country couldnt provide opportunities for its people.

this is real, they can even have 2-3 weeks straight vacation because it's mandatory every year in their country. Samantalang dito sa pinas 2 days ka lang mag aabsent, parang ikakalugi pa nila 😂
