Everyone blaming the generation… but we ain’t got money for bs like this, some of us have jobs in high school we can’t afford to miss or more important bs. My school had it and a lot of people went and a lot of people didn’t. It is OKAY if we ain’t wanna do this. We don’t have money for dresses, shoes, tickets, or wtv else you need for this. Some of us are already struggling enough to ask our parents to give us money for something that isn’t a necessity! Some of us are relying on food stamps that are being cut off! To the people who just wan’t to say the generation is “lame” first look at how things are right now compared to back then before you judge. Have some critical thinking skills for once! I know it’s hard and all, but let’s try it okay?

I feel like it’s under developed social skills due to Covid, the phones, and the cost (economy). I couldn’t wait for hoco back when I was in HS.

cost. 100% cost is changing this "mentality" $50 for a ticket, plus a dress/outfit cost, dinner, etc. its transitioned into the wedding market of high school. lol its crazy! (it was like this when I was in school in 2009-2012 & gotten worse)

My son went to homecoming and had a great time. Its very popular at his school so this seems to be situational.

Too many rules. They date outside their school and can’t go with them. So they dress up, pictures, diner and that’s it. Because they can’t choose who they go with.

My son went last year. He called me half way through and said “ mom, they’re literally turning up to Cotton Eye Joe”. Please come get me. They need current themes, music and better food. Talk to the kids and ask them why they don’t want to attend.

I was out for a date night with my husband in the city last weekend, and we literally went to raising Cane's chicken fingers and there was an entire group of girls there in their sparkle dresses. I just really think that people can't afford to do what they used to do

everything is expensive, what do you expect?..... you have parents that have to both work to just be able to put food on the table and barely make enough money to pay rent, pay the mortgage, light bill ,gas etc ....

Its expensive, a lot of drama, and a lot of work just for a dance no one will dance at. Standing around in a big room for 2 hours isn't fun. But thats the reality of the majority of highschool homecomings
