Children are still open to reality/the plan. I believe children. My daughter used to tell me the coolest stories about cooking and gardening with her grandma. In my lifetime/timeline this grandmother did not exist but I wanted her grandma too.

the ghost probably died in an accident and was trying to warn them to be careful around the lake so they don't have the same end or he isn't too happy about the hotel being there for whatever reason
