@robertwelshmua: Matching the right shade foundation to your clients or customers skin tone used to be so important and a skill you would work on …. But now it seems like people just grab a yellow of a shade they want to be and that’s what they go with! Why is this happening??? #makeup #mua #foundation

as someone with a neutral cool undertone I'm so fed up with "neutral" foundations being yellow 🥲

I think the product developers just make yellow tones - even the cool are yellow. I am warm but I but cool tones because they are least yellow🥺

It’s because every brand has decided that everyone who is fair either wants to be yellow or orange! There’s no other options! I have to colour correct every brand!

I used to wear more pink undertones when I just started wearing makeup, as there were no other options for my rather pale skin. Then I switched to more yellowish shades, as they seemed to look more natural on me and did not turn orange after setting; however, it turned out that all the foundations I ever tried were either too pink or orange for me, or too yellow, so I suspect I lean toward an olive undertone. I am still searching for my perfect shade 🥺

i think as someone who is quite pale and at the lightest ends of foundation ranges. there is not enough pink undertoned foundations and concealers affordably on the market. my favourite concealer is yellow toned so I have to use pink setting powder to attempt to change the tone. ive swatched so many foundations amd they always pull yellow or orange. it is really hard to find the pinkest because it is usually 7 shades darker than me. sometimes my undertones lean purple/blue which means even my lightest pink undertone foundation will pull weird.

cool tones where often dismissed and drugstores dont/ didnt tend to have them and pale skin is still seen as sickly so ppl just settle with the palest yellow fpundation. growing up i could never find one so i would just look for the palest one and get it as i couldnt do better. right now i have a lisa eldridge skin tint t1 the palest shade and still looks darker on me but i can pull it off, if anyone has any skintint recs for pale skin i would love to know!

It’s just really hard to find ones with pink undertones, most foundations are yellow/orange toned. It’s a pain in the bottom. I’m pale and everything always feels too warm or oxidises warm. It’s tough out here.

Brands makes only pink, yellow or orange foundation. very fair and deep skintone are screwed. very fair ppl specially olive are struggling. We buy from the Asian market. We are tired to play chemist with blue, where, green pigment 😭

I am olive and I tend to pull yellowish green sometime, but I am also extremely fair. That being said, if I go with ANY olive foundation it's going to look truly yellow on me and I look sick. And I look like a minion. The only thing that works for me is a neutral fair or the missha bb cream. They pull slightly greyer when you look at them straight on, but I swear they look the most seamless with my body. I have no idea if that's a thing, but it's the only thing I found that works.😅

For many years I thought that in order to have coverage and full glam it needs to be”not match”. I couldn’t grasp that we can have coverage and be undetectable 🤷🏻‍♀️I don’t want to look a different shade than I am 😩

I'm an olive but there are not a lot of super fair olive options so i just wear yellow instead. it's better match than something super pink

honestly I struggle so much, so many foundations that are called neutral are either too pink or too yellow. I’ve tried them all and the ones that make me look the least weird are the ones that are more yellow. They’re always the ones where I can use less of the product, but I wholeheartedly agree, yellow seems to be the default.

for me I had to learn to walk outside to see the actual color. fluorescent lights tend to mask yellow on me

I have ALWAYS struggled with finding a shade of foundation. it's always either yellow, too white, too cool/warm ect. it's the only step I can't do in my glam 😭

A lot of foundations lean orange or yellow. I think we are finally stepping away from the orange and the yellow is a stepping stone…

Never in my life have I found a foundation that would match my skin 😭 Everything is either too pink or too yellow. Even neutral tones look off. When I look at myself and my neck, I see a lot of yellow undertones. Like I'm literally yellow. But somehow foundations often manage to outyellow me 😂

i think people have become somewhat blind to undertones and just see the lightness/darkness. i also think some people think pink undertones look ”wrong” and only see redness instead of their undertone!

Oh, I SEE IT. I am NEUTRAL FAIR/IVORY/PORCELAIN, and I struggle with people who want to give me a yellow undertone all the time, even though I'm kinda olive... It is painful. Spanish - being in London for 12+ years and being told on 3 separate occasions, "How can you be Spanish? You are not tan" I am trying more skin tints, and it's night and day ☺️

I think many don’t know how to color match & so many companies have a yellow tone that it’s just become the norm.

I have olive undertones and I hate everything looks too yellow for my skin. I did buy blue pigment (L.A. Girl?) and finally can mix those yellow tones off. Or buy Chinese/Korean/Japanese products.
