When she was finally rescued and came into our care, she was absolutely terrified. She didn’t know that hands could offer kindness, that people could be trusted, or that the world held so much more than the life she had known. Even the simplest things felt impossible. So we gave her all the time she needed to learn that she was finally safe. Slowly, the most beautiful little soul began to emerge. We watched her discover toys, the comfort of a soft bed, the excitement of new adventures, and the happiness of having friends. We celebrated her first tail wags, her first kisses, and the day she finally found her voice. Things that might seem ordinary to most meant absolutely everything to us because every little first was another piece of the life she had been missing. She even went on to help teach hundreds of children about animal testing. The little dog who once had no say in what happened to her was now helping give a voice to animals just like her. We got to watch her experience so many beautiful firsts, but there was one we wanted for her more than anything, a family to call her own 🥺 And now, for the very first time, Bagel isn’t just a number. She’s her family’s whole world! Her amazing new family made the long drive from California to meet her, bringing their beagle, Bentley, along with them. It was love at first sight, and we couldn’t be happier that Bagel found such a wonderful home with them. She’ll never know just how many hearts she touched along the way or how many people were rooting for her happy ending. But we hope she spends the rest of her life knowing just how deeply she is loved. One day, all these beautiful firsts will become ordinary moments: the soft bed, the familiar voices, the loving hands, and the feeling of being home. That’s everything we’ve ever wanted for her, a life where love, safety, and happiness are no longer things she’s learning to discover, but simply part of every day 🤍
