I leave my outdoor Spicket uncovered every winter and I live in upstate New York, where it's cold and snowy, and I've never had an issue with my outdoor Spicket.

I’ve been a home owner for 15 years, I’ve never covered my spigots. I live in Chicago. What do these covers do?

We live in Minnesota, we don’t cover our faucets, we shut the water off for winter.

Most are frost free faucets where they close the valve 12” inside the house. This should be unnecessary in any home anymore

It snowed 6ft this winter.... they were fine. As a matter of fact my house was built in the 50s and they have spent every winter outside with no problem

Yeah, baby boomer here lived in a house for 40 years never covered my faucet. Never had a problem shut your inside valve off to the outside. You’ll never have a problem. This is just another gimmick to try and sell you something you really need

Are you a winter shut off that goes much much deeper than a drain cap at the top of the shut off?

🤔 So something practically everyone has been doing as long as I can remember (leaving them uncovered) suddenly is an issue? And the fix is something that looks like it won’t make much of a difference at all?

🤣 Not in MN! Won’t make a difference with these stupid things! We just shut off in the fall and don’t use again unless it is 60 degrees!
