🚨BLUE SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 10/18 @ 11AM FOR SPACE🚨 PLEASE SHARE EVERYWHERE! 💔 7 year old Blue came in as a stray on 10/3 & went into foster-to-adopt on 10/11, but he was returned the next day after a serious incident involving a smaller dog in the home. According to the foster, Blue was being kept separated in a room from the other animals. While the foster was away, a younger kid entered Blue’s room. Blue ran out & charged at a smaller dog in the home. He latched onto the dog & would not release, so the kid had to physically open Blue’s mouth to separate them. Tragically, the smaller dog died. This is a very serious incident, & Blue cannot safely be placed around small animals. Despite this history, Blue has shown a very affectionate side with people. During a daycation, he loved riding in the car, going for walks, playing with toys, & relaxing right beside his person. He happily met strangers, enjoyed cuddles, tolerated a bath, & stayed calm around household noises. He’s a true Velcro dog who wants to be close to his people. Blue knows “sit,” is highly treat-motivated & walks on leash, although he’s strong & may pull at first. He has also been social with dogs in shelter playgroups, allowing greetings & sometimes playing. However, those observations do not erase what happened in the home. Any placement must take his history seriously, with strict separation from small animals & careful management. Blue is heartworm positive, but DAS provides treatment. His facial abrasions are healing, & the swelling and lameness previously noted in his left rear leg had resolved at his last exam.
