Everyone assumes that the boy in the painting is the black cat, but i don't. My theory is : what if 150 years ago, a wealthy couple lived in the pink palace, and they had a son,which is the boy in the painting. Then one day, his father told him to go play outside, but he fell into the well and died. The mother went MAD and she went crazy. She used black magic to make herself into the beldam, after, she made a whole fantasy world that is slightly better than the normal world to lure children in, to replace her son. She blamed her husband for their son's death and turned him into a cat. That's why the cat knows her very well, that she likes games and etc. That's why the cat often hangs out on the well to keep his son company, just like fathers do. Another one is what if the beldam didn't know what wybie's voice sounded like, so she cant mimic his voice for the other wybie to talk, because wybie hadn't entered the pink palace before. And, im not done yet, what if wybie's grandmother ms. lovat is actually included? you see wybie is at the age to get targeted by the beldam, as wybie said in the begging, ms. lovat won't let anybody rent the pink palace if they have a kid, than why did ms. lovat rent to coraline's parents? did she do it to protect wybie or Something else?... (sorry for the grammar, english is not really my first language.)
