@genevieveglass: The federal government is planning a new effort focused on vaccine injuries, including a research program at the NIH Clinical Center that could eventually expand around the country. Vaccine injuries are not something the government is only now acknowledging. The U.S. already has multiple vaccine-safety monitoring systems and a federal compensation program for certain vaccine-related injuries. Serious adverse events can happen, but they are rare. Vaccine-safety researchers say more research into rare adverse events could be valuable. The question they’re raising is how that research will be designed and whether it follows the evidence wherever it leads. NIH’s published research priorities call for large, long-term studies, methods to reduce bias and independent replication. #vaccines #vaccinesafety #healthnews #creatorsearchinsights
