The true story In 1941, 73-year-old Philip Peters was living in his Denver home while his wife was recovering in the hospital. Strange things began happening around the house. Food went missing, and unexplained noises disturbed the quiet. What Philip didn't know was that a man named Theodore Coneys had discovered a tiny opening in a closet ceiling that led into the attic. Coneys had entered the house looking for food and shelter, then secretly made the cramped attic his hiding place. For weeks, Coneys stayed hidden above the rooms where Peters lived. He waited until the house was quiet before climbing down to get food. Then, on October 17, 1941, Peters caught Coneys in the house. A confrontation followed, and Coneys beat Peters to death before returning to his hiding place in the attic. But here's the truly horrifying part. The killer was still inside the house. While investigators tried to solve the murder, Coneys remained concealed overhead. The house developed a reputation as a haunted place, and the mystery continued for months. In July 1942, police finally discovered Coneys hiding in the attic and arrested him. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. He died in custody in 1967. The case became known as the story of the “Denver Spider-Man.” The scariest part is that this wasn't a ghost story. It was a real murder case—and the person responsible had been hiding inside the victim's own home.
