Dandruff is mold. Just use clarifying shampoo and head and shoulders once in awhile.

Your hair is not molding. Most likely what she means is you have a fungal infection from improper drying. Go get a fungal shampoo or speak to a dermatologist and ask them to prescribe you ketoconazole shampoo. Start drying your hair with a hairdryer.

I think your hairstylist is using the word mold too loosely. She probably means a fungal infection, dandruff or dermatitis.

Yeah diagnosing is outside of a hairstylists scope of practice. If her next words were not “but a doctor would need to confirm, go to the dermatologist” then I’d doubt her credibility.

Not mold. Fungal. Same happened to me. Thick hair and I used to sleep with it wet. Head and shoulders Classic Clean shampoo. You can still use your regular shampoo after if you like it. Just shampoo twice and use the head and shoulders first. Then, the most crucial part, you must blowdry your hair every time. Every. Time. It never came back for me after I started this. Thick hair was causing moisture to get trapped on my head for too long. It’s no big deal, girl.

As a hairstylist…it’s so common especially for the girls with more density. Also, 99% of the time the client has no idea. Def more mildew than actual mold though, the only time ive seen that has been on children with matted hair🥲

As a former stylist. I had o my seen it once. And was because she would shower and then go to bed with wet hair. Every. Single. Night. Please just blow dry your hair before you go to bed.

Stylist here! Dandruff is a fungal problem. Dry/flaky scalp is a whole other issue. If she saw something please see a dermatologist. Wild of her to make such a bold statement 😂 but please do see the doc!

Two kinds of dandruff. One caused by mold and other by dryness. One requires medicated shampoo the other things to reduce dryness

I highly doubt its actual mold. it very well could be just dandruff, dermatitis, or what I have scalp psoriasis.
