We lived in Bahrain in the ‘80s. I’ve walked on and among these burial mounds without any knowledge of their significance. This is very interesting!

Sounds like some family members drowned before they got their relatives there so their grave never got filled. Maybe too, the grave was paid for but the relatives then could not afford the passage. As to who got buried, probably those who could afford it, or the relatives who could afford it.

Could they have built tombs beforehand, waiting for bodies? Maybe they didn’t build the tombs after they received the bodies, they already had some tombs built?
