Did you know that African American women are 38% more likely to die from breast cancer than White women, even though they're slightly LESS likely to be diagnosed? 📊 Here are the numbers: 💗 Black women: 26.8 deaths per 100,000 women 🤍 White women: 19.4 deaths per 100,000 women These are age-adjusted U.S. breast cancer death rates from 2018–2022. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? 💔 Black women are more likely to develop triple-negative breast cancer, an aggressive form that's harder to treat. 💔 Black women are less likely to have their cancer detected at an early stage. 💔 Delays in diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care can cost precious time. 💔 Financial barriers, unequal access to quality healthcare, and systemic racial disparities contribute to these outcomes. This isn't just about genetics. It's about access, early detection, and making sure every woman receives the same quality of care. As a breast cancer survivor, I want women to understand that awareness means more than wearing pink in October.
