Before anyone asks, I want to start by saying that I worked closely with my GP and endocrinologist throughout this journey. My experience is exactly that: my experience. What worked for me may not be appropriate for everyone. For years, I felt like I was fighting against my own body. Before anyone asks, I want to start by saying that I worked closely with my GP and endocrinologist throughout this journey. My experience is exactly that: my experience. What worked for me may not be appropriate for everyone. For years, I felt like I was fighting against my own body. I would watch people lose weight by simply eating a little less, moving a little more, and everything seemed to fall into place for them. Meanwhile, I felt like I was doing everything "right" and getting nowhere. It was frustrating, exhausting, and honestly quite isolating. What I have learned is that my body wasn't broken. It needed support. Once I started working with my healthcare team and addressing the underlying factors contributing to my weight gain, everything changed. Not overnight. Not magically. But for the first time, my efforts actually started matching my results. Some of my biggest non-negotiables have been: • Following the treatment plan created with my medical team • Prioritising protein at every meal • Staying consistent even when motivation disappeared • Moving my body regularly, especially through walking and strength training • Focusing on habits I could sustain long term instead of chasing quick fixes • Drinking more water than I thought I needed • Getting enough sleep and managing stress • Taking progress photos because the scale doesn't always tell the full story The biggest transformation hasn't actually been physical. It's learning that I don't need to punish myself to make progress. It's learning that one bad meal doesn't ruin everything. It's learning that consistency beats perfection every single time. I've lost weight, but I've also gained confidence, energy, self-respect, and a much healthier relationship with myself. If you're currently struggling, please know this: needing help does not mean you've failed. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is ask questions, seek support, and work with professionals to understand what's actually going on. You deserve answers. You deserve support. And you deserve to feel good in your own body. 30kg down and still going. 🤍
