My family was emotionally manipulative like this and disowned me when I turned 18. As much as I wanted to crash out at them, I just held back the pain knowing it was unhealthy for me. I'm 27 now, scheduled to graduate in 2028 and live in a safe state. The moment I get a good paying job, you bet your ass I'm going to rub my success in their face and give them hell. I live and succeed, not because of them, but in spite of them.
