I was scrolling through my own Twitter feed last night, enjoying my hilarious tweets for the previous post, when I came across this quote I’d posted a while back. It struck me all over again for the first time. For decades, I kept my life as safe and comfortable as I could. Stayed with what I knew. Talked myself out of things before I ever gave myself a chance to try. Looking back, I understand why. I know what that version of me was carrying. I know why familiar felt so necessary. And just as I’ve had to learn to forgive the girl who gained all that weight, I’m learning to forgive the girl who kept herself safe. For the chances she didn’t take. For the things she didn’t believe she could handle. She was doing the best she could with what she knew about life and herself then. I know more about myself now. I get me in a way I don’t think I ever have. I’m finding out that I can be scared and still take the next step. That I can start over, be a beginner, feel completely out of my depth-and figure things out as I go. (With the perfectionist in me kicking and screaming as I go lol) My life feels like an adventure these days. There’s uncertainty, and plenty I wish I had instructions for. (And I’d be lying if I didn’t admit there are moments of wishing for the way things were.) But there’s also this feeling of wondering what’s next and actually being excited to find out. I’m so thankful for that. Maybe you’ve looked back and wished you’d been braver sooner, too. I get it. But I don’t want us to spend the years ahead being unkind to who we were in the years behind us. There’s so much life to get our hands on. And now I’m willing to develop a few wings along the way. Want to come with me? 🖤 Sara
