During the formation lap, Barrichello’s Ferrari F2002 refused to start. While the rest of the grid was preparing to take its place, his Ferrari was still sitting on the front jack as the mechanics desperately tried to get it running. The seconds kept passing, and the race start was getting closer. The mechanics continued working, but the car simply wouldn’t cooperate. Eventually, the Ferrari had to be pushed back into the pit lane. The lights went out, the race began, and Barrichello was left watching from the sidelines without even getting the chance to start. And to make the story even more painful, his teammate Michael Schumacher went on to win the race and secure his fifth World Championship.
