@tiktok_guy22: On the night of February 24–25, 1942, just weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor, fear swept across Los Angeles. 🚨 As air raid sirens sounded and radar reports detected unidentified objects, the city went into a massive blackout. What followed became known as the Battle of Los Angeles. Believing an enemy attack might be underway, U.S. forces fired more than 1,400 anti-aircraft shells into the night sky while searchlights scanned for aircraft. Explosions echoed across the city as civilians sheltered indoors and panic spread. Yet, no enemy aircraft were ever officially confirmed. The barrage reportedly caused property damage, shattered windows, falling debris, and several civilian deaths linked to accidents and the chaos. The incident remains one of the most famous unexplained events of World War II. Was it a military misidentification, a false alarm, or something still unexplained? Decades later, the Battle of Los Angeles continues to fuel debate and speculation. 👀🇺🇸 #usa #History #ww2 #viral #foryoupage

Angelo 🚚🚧🏗️ :

The battle of Los Angeles (great Los Angeles air raid) was a false alarm. The USA was so war frightened that people claimed to see a group of 3 Japanese fighter jets in the sky causing the US to retaliate and basically shoot every which way in the sky. The one interesting thing is, people say Radar detected nothing, but others did confirm 3 aircraft. This event caused 5 confirmed deaths of civilians.

This was 3 months after pearl harbor, and 12 hours after a Japanese sub surfaced near Santa Barbara and fired a dozen artillery shells at an oil field, also combined with War Nerves.

Maybe just maybe it was simply a test to see how the military and civilians would react if an enemy aircraft was attacking the city
