Actually NHS heath visitors advise against it now. Except in very cold temperatures. Hope that helps 👍

In the nicest way possible as you correctly said it’s none of your business. Not all babies like things on their head,as long as they are dressed and wrapped up appropriately fighting a newborn to put a hat on is the last thing on my to do list.

Their head is the only way their heat escapes so if you cover that then the heat will not escape and they can get too hot and it increases SIDS so as long as they have enough clothes on in the sling the mums body temperature will regulate the baby’s body temperature if in a pram then yes blanket with no hat unless it’s 0° so maybe stick to minding your own business…

I kept a hat on my baby, my midwife came round pulled the hat off and said that’s how babies die, too hot they die, too cold they cry, I would never risk my baby dying because someone else will judge me

There’s new regulations for babies , heat is released from the head and an overheating baby can cause SIDS . Regulations are changing a lot . Plus these 2026 babies are different

We’ve been conditioned to believe that the baby needs a hat or socks but actually baby can overheat and that is more dangerous then having no hat/ socks . We as adults can regulate our temperature if we are too hot but babies cannot.

my baby is in a sling attached to me when I have a huge coat and she’s wrapped up, if I put a hat on her she’d easily overheat!

In a sling baby can overheat with a hat on 🤪 clothes baby wear, mum and sling all count as a layer then coat if mum wears one
