@steven: “This feels like a bad idea..." Jimmy Carr challenges modern parenting and questions whether children are given too little freedom to make their own decisions. He believes that giving children the space to make mistakes can help them become more independent and learn from their experiences. Sometimes, protecting children too much in the real world can leave them unprepared for it. #parenting #genz #thediaryofaceo

As a GenXer, trust me, not all that freedom was a good thing.

Yes, 70s and 80s kids were door latch kids, having to raise themselves

I babysat starting in the 70’s at 8 years old for toddlers and all the years up to when I was 14 and the parents would go out of town for a weekend. I was definitely responsible but I still can’t believe that I was watching other’s kids at such a young age…. it was a diff time then but I look back and think that’s crazy

I trust my kids. I don’t trust the world. How do you let them babysit like we use to for families when you hear all these horror stories of abuse or letting them go to

Then also the world have gotten very sick, thanks to Western culture, there are pedophiles and tranies, homosexuals over sexualizing children all over, it's not safe anywhere

But why are parents behaving like this?! Because they've learnt that very freedom led to sooooooo much SH!T, Jimmy's going on like early freedoms built better. Ppl when clearly it did not.... they're protecting their young because theres are more to protect them from

Yup. Completely agree. My niece is in her first year of university. Her brother, my nephew, who is in grade 11, both have to go to their grandparents whenever their mother has plans and won’t be at home. It’s bizarre…

Many of us have so many physical and psychological scars from all that freedom in the 80s & 90s. Latch key kids know.
Some parents should let up- yes. Some parents should parent more- yes. The population explosion has a huge thing to do with this. Its not so simple
