@aviatorscholars: They were not pilots with a military fleet. They weren't backed by a billion dollar aerospace company. They were two bicycle mechanics from Dayton, Ohio, who became obsessed with one question: Can humans actually build a machine that flies? On December 17, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright answered that question at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Their first powered flight lasted only 12 seconds and covered about 120 feet. Twelve seconds. Yet those 12 seconds helped launch an industry that would eventually take humans across oceans, into supersonic flight, and beyond Earth. ✈️ And that's the fascinating part of aviation history: The biggest breakthroughs don't always begin with something that looks impressive. Sometimes they begin with two people who simply refuse to accept that something is impossible. Would you have believed them in 1903? 👀 #AviatorScholars #WrightBrothers #AviationHistory #Aviation #History
