Either like robotic, disinterested, reading a script, no inflection, or very precise. Example : an audiobook reading of an academic lecture. 😅

Oh and gods forbid we raise our voice even 0.1 decimal because then we’re yelling at people😐

which is interesting bc most autism accents ive observed, including my own, are actually typically overly expressive, almost like an animated character but the face stays put. it also includes pauses where there shouldnt be pauses in sentences.

I gotta push back here, it’s not actually a monotone- its a separate set of inflections that neurotypicals are unfamiliar with, and they respond with whatever their default response to confusion is; for too many people that response is aggression

It's not a lack of tone change in a sentence, really. It's that when someone new walks into the conversation you don't adjust your tone socially. Like you don't go up in pitch to greet someone (to show you're happy to see them and welcoming them to the conversation) and then slowly back down as the conversation "settles in".

It sounds like we are condescending/pretentious unfortunately. That has gotten me into a lot of miscommunication arguments.

I know "uncanny" is a buzz word, but it sounds a little different. Also usually harder to pay attention to because the speaker sounds uninterested in what they're talking about. And Ive noticed some small differences in pronunciation and use of words.

We try to do this thing where we want everyone to NOT misinterpret our words so we speak “clearly and directly and articulate well” but we don’t actually sound like that at all we sound angry, upset, or disinterested. Then there’s the overcompensators who talk like elementary cartoon characters because they overly-apply tone… seems to be no balance…

Flat or unenthused generally. Someone else said sarcastic and I can understand why people would think that. People aren’t usually always sarcastic with literally every word they speak though so reason rules that out for me. Not all autistic people have a strong accent or even one at all though. I would say you have a medium accent leaning towards neurotypical. I have heard way stronger accents. My girlfriend is diagnosed and she doesn’t really have an accent. However, her diction does give her away.
