Henry Gunther was actually a sad story. Gunther was trying to redeem himself in war because he was stripped of his rank as a Sergant and became a Private instead. Gunther wanted to redeem himself in battle and prove his bravery, and Gunther approached a German machine gun. Despite his comrades yelling for him to go back and even the German Soldiers tried waving at him to go back, he still went there. The Germans had no choice but to shoot.
