This is my mami, Sonia. She was recently diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. My mami is the strongest person I know. She came to the United States from Colombia in the 1980s with my dad and my two older sisters seeking asylum. She knew very little English and left behind everything familiar in hopes of creating a better future for our family. Despite the challenges of starting over in a new country, she worked full time while going to school full time to provide for us. She went on to earn her master’s degree and dedicated most of her career to serving others through social work and case management. When my parents came to this country, it was just the four of them. Today, because of their courage and sacrifice, our family has grown to 19 people, including 10 grandchildren, four daughters, and three amazing sons-in-law. She built the family she dreamed of. I’ve started a GoFundMe because my mom is no longer able to work and needs our help. If you feel led to donate, our family would be deeply grateful. If you’re not able to give, your prayers, love, and sharing this video would mean just as much. There is not another person I love more on this earth than my mami. I’ve been scared to lose my mom since I was five years old. I’m 26 now, and I don’t think there will ever be an age where you stop needing your mom. I pray every day for healing. I pray she’ll get to meet my future husband, hold my babies one day, and continue being the incredible mother, grandmother, and woman that so many people love. Thank you for praying for my mami, Sonia. 🤍 Here is the link: https://gofund.me/1b484d1f1 #ihatecancer #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness🎀 #fyp #gofundme
