@mothershipsg: From January 2027, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will be progressively retiring the iconic open-toe sandals of the female cabin crew, and replacing them with a new closed-toe wedge design by local brand Pazzion. Currently, SIA’s female cabin crew switch between open-toe sandals and closed-toe slingbacks for different flight phases. The new shoes will replace both footwear, so that the flight attendants can wear one standardised pair throughout. An SIA spokesperson told Mothership the move follows a review to enhance safety, comfort, and support while meeting operational requirements. The design was finalised after testing several prototypes on actual flights. They will feature thicker lambskin insoles for support, and SIA’s signature batik motif with colour variants matched to each crew rank’s uniform. strongly agree that the design looks outdated and somewhat unappealing, esp it’s gọng to pair with stewardess’ uniform that exudes elegance. Was there any users’ feedback or survey conducted before finalising the design?

Passengers are advised not to wear slippers or sandals on the flight for security or emergency situations. Good effort to finally recognise flight attendants’ safety too.
