@itstherespawn: A Discord app called ‘Double Counter’ recently suffered a data breach which exposed around 1 million email addresses, along with the Discord IDs and IP addresses for millions of users. In an incident report, Double Counter’s owner Tellter described the attack as a ‘deliberate multi-stage attack’ which exploited a vulnerability in an analytics tool on an old server. The attackers reportedly had access for just under six hours. The data that the hacker had accessed was reportedly linked to around 28 million Discord accounts, though they were only able to access half of the IP records before the team were able to intervene. However, with Tellter unable to tell which records remain unaffected, they’re treating all of them as being exposed. The company has filed a criminal complaint over the incident, but those who have used Double Counter are encouraged to remain vigilant for phishing attempts. #discordserver #gaming #multiplayer
