honestly i love the book version because it shows so much more to Dany and the dragons. The Targaryen family are dragon masters, the dragons don’t just willy-nilly obey them just because. I also love how it shows what incredible instincts Dany has, even as a young teenager - “If I run from him, he will burn me and devour me” - she doesn’t get enough credit for the fact that SHE figured out how to bond with and ride her dragons. No dragon pit attendees to teach her, no one who could explain how they work or think, she just knows instinctively in this moment she NEEDS to be the boss, or she dies… this is SO much cooler in the books, in my opinion 😭

Yea she almost died in the books and got burned along with all her hair its so much more intense. That chapter is a Top 10 asoiaf chapter imo, so peak.

This is why I don't like or even care to read the books. I much prefer the portrayal of their relationship in the show (Despite its lacking later seasons). Like, she says a dragon is not a slave, then proceeds to whip her own child? 😭 It's so weird to me

I’ve re read this scene so much. Much prefer the book version. For one the show couldn’t stay consistent with the plot in that scene with the sons of the harpy and killing hizdahr not to mention barriston is still alive and neither Jorah nor Tyrion is there for this scene nor have met her yet. And her using the whip the thing she despises in Mereenese culture to master the living embodiment of fire I think is beautiful.
