But there is something important to remember… The truth doesn’t stop being the truth just because someone has been convinced of a different story. You cannot force someone to see your heart. You cannot make them remember the love you’ve given or recognize the sacrifices you’ve made. And you cannot spend the rest of your life defending yourself against a version of you that doesn’t exist. What you can do is continue living with love, integrity, and grace. You can leave the door open without standing in the doorway waiting forever. You can hope for reconciliation while still choosing peace for yourself. And maybe, with time, maturity, and life experience, those adult children will begin to see things through their own eyes rather than someone else’s perspective.
