I got to experience this England back in 2004, when I first set foot on this great land we call the UK. I was young, naive, and a little lost, but the local lads took me under their wings, and before I knew it, I was part of the furniture at the old Trafalgar Pub in Greenwich, London! 🍻
It was exactly as you described, minus the £1.80 pint! 😂 Those were the days when people could have a laugh, take the piss out of each other, and have a bit of banter without everyone acting like they needed therapy afterwards. The word offended certainly didn’t carry the same weight it does today!
It’s genuinely sad that younger generations might never get to experience that old-school British pub culture. The pub was more than just a place to drink; it was where strangers became mates, where people from different backgrounds came together, and where you felt you belonged. That culture was a huge part of England’s identity, and it feels like so much of it has disappeared over the years.
I’m just grateful I got to experience it firsthand. I miss those old mates, the atmosphere, the banter, and the good old Trafalgar Pub. unfortunately since the Those memories will stay with me forever! 🍻❤️
