Yes, some young people can still buy homes, but they are becoming outliers. It’s not the “avocado toast”, it’s a systemic issue

My favourite part is boomers telling me it’s our fault for buying coffee. I bought a home at 21 but it was a condo. I live within my means. Most can’t until 30-35

I bought my townhouse at 26 but I was the only one of my friends that could own anything. It ended up having a bunch of issues and I never recommend buying a townhouse again but I did get into the market

As someone who bought a house and needed a mortgage, i realize that i actually dont own my house. Furthermore, if i were to pay off my mortgage…i still dont own my house because its on crown land which means if i dont pay my property tax, the government can take it and auction it off. So, does anyone actually own a home. Its either the bank or the government but in most cases its both

That average home prices rose about 132% between 1994 and 2024, while median household after-tax income rose 36%. Boomers won at the expense of everyone after.
