We flew those Delta L1011’s frequently in the 80’s. Yes, they looked just like that. And I loved the middle seat sections. And always had full meals. Great flights.

We were a family of 7 and went from Newark to Orlando several times for Disney starting in 72. Characters greeted you and the pilots gave us wings. Interior looked like this - so colorful

For the day, the Lockheed L1011-Tristar was the most sophisticated aircraft, and a pleasure to ride. If microchips and advanced computers had been available during its manufacture, it would still be flying today. A very safe and comfortable aircraft.

I traveled quite a bit with my parents when I was a kid in the 70s/80s. it was a luxury .....we always had a hot meal and we always dressed like we were going to church service! It was the best experience and everyone treated. Everyone was such respect ....there was no fighting whatsoever. Terrorism never crossed my parents minds. I'm so happy I got to experience that innocent luxury of flying In the 1980s. I also took my kids with me on planes when they were younger and they just can't believe my stories that I get to share..

I started flying in 1975 when I was 7. Lots of smoke, but pretty well vented. I became a smoker myself and contributed to it until it was banned. I fly almost every day (280+ flights per year) for work and have since 1987 so I’ve really seen the changes. It’s definitely at its worst right now.
