And while you are correct the authors rejected the figures in the book, they didn’t specifically reject the China numbers of 65 million and instead supported a range of 45-72 million. With most leading historians coming in somewhere from 30 to 70 million. So its not like its was all made up!

I just saw on Twitter yesterday an inversion of the common wisdom, someone saying leftists will side with fascists over liberals, and someone in the comments, as examples of this happening historically gave both the USSR and Japan siding with the Nazis and I was just like, how could a person be more confidently wrong??? The USSR, famous Nazi killers? And Imperial Japan a leftist country? Wild!
