@couriernewsroom: Nearly 200 industrial facilities are getting a pass on federal air pollution rules meant to protect people from cancer and other serious health risks. The Trump administration granted exemptions to coal plants and petrochemical facilities, including 70 plants that now have two more years before they must comply with rules the Biden EPA estimated would reduce the number of nearby residents facing elevated cancer risks by 96%. Half of those petrochemical plants are along the Gulf Coast, including Louisiana’s notorious “Cancer Alley.” Texas has more exempted facilities than any other state.
