Orm took a breath. “You don't have to answer.” She stepped closer. “I just needed you to know.” Ling's eyes filled with emotion. She reached for Orm's hand. “I've spent six years believing my heart had no room for anything except Mia.” Orm looked at her. “And now?” Ling squeezed her hand. “Now I'm not so sure.” Neither woman noticed Mia standing halfway down the stairs.
